Alangoo held its NYC launch party Thursday. Fresh from a “live painting” trip through Africa and Asia, Soheil Tovakoli, a New York based Iranian artist and architect, joined us for a live painting demo. Tovakoli began live painting in 2009 on the streets of Iran during the contested election. Much like his most recent body of work, “On The Red Line”, Tovakoli chose T-shirts as his canvas for the evening. Some of Tovakoli’s one-of-a-kind, limited edition, “wearable paintings” were up for grabs as well. Check out the Voice of America video of the event to see Tovakoli in action, his exhibition of T-shirts, and a brief interview Alangoo’s founder, Golshid Mola. Even if you cannot understand Persian, you can still catch a glimpse of the launch!
